Children
Family Visa – There are several visas for dependent children under the age of 18 of an Australian parent
• Child (subclasses 101 and 802) – for children of an Australian citizen or the ‘holder of a permanent visa’
• Dependent child (subclass 445) – a temporary visa for the dependent children of provisional partner visa holders
• Adoption (subclass 102) –the adopted child of an Australian citizen, the ‘holder of a permanent visa’ or an ENZ citizen
• Orphan Relative (subclasses 837 and 117) orphaned relatives of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen
Parents
The visas below are the parents whose children are Australians. The applicants must pass the family test which means more than half of their children are required to reside in Australia. Those who immigrated with a parent visa will be restricted to access to Australian welfare system for certain period of time.
• Parent (subclass 103) – for the parent(s) under the age of 65 of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen
• Aged Parent (subclass 804) – for the aged parent(s) over the age of 65 of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen
• Contributory Aged Parent (subclasses 864 and 884) – for the aged parent(s) of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen. Expensive but fast track
• Contributory Parent (subclasses 143 and 173) – for the parent(s) of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen. Expensive but fast track.
Other Relatives
• Aged Dependent Relative (subclasses 114 and 838) – for single, widowed, divorced or formally separated relatives who are dependent on an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen relative.
• Carer (subclasses 116 and 836) – for the relative of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen who has a medical condition or whose family member has a medical condition, requiring care.
• Remaining Relative (subclasses 115 and 835) – for the last remaining relative of an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an ENZ citizen.
• Partner subclass 801 visa – this is a permanent visa for a person who is married to, or in a de facto relationship with, an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an ENZ citizen.
